IT Technician

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and may be proportionate with work output. Phone, PC equipment, tools and car expenses will be provided.
Background
The successful applicant will be required to perform remote and onsite technical work to our customers in Canberra and the Region. We provide phone support, remote control support and various onsite tasks. Our work covers traditional IT (servers, workstations, routers), ad-hoc software development, telephony, outdoor equipment installation (tower installation/maintenance work, building to building links using laser and microwave radio) and some cable pulling. We believe in offering a fulfilling technical environment to staff, rather than sticking people with one job or task.
Essential
- Experience supporting customers in an IT environment
- Ability to be self-taught
- Experience installing and troubleshooting Windows workstation and/or server software
- Experience with PC hardware
- Drivers licence (car)
- Ability to work with tools including power tools and measuring equipment
- Ability to work at heights and to learn safe height work techniques
- Be able to be on-call for rostered/occasional support out of business hours (1-2 calls per week typically)
Desirable (training will be provided if required)
- Understanding of Internet infrastructure: DNS, DHCP, IP, filtering
- Experience working with an identity/authentication Directory (eg: LDAP, eDirectory, Active Directory)
- Familiarity with Windows Profiles and Group Policies
- Familiarity with Linux and Samba
- ACA Open Cabling Certification, Structured Cabling Endorsement
- Own car (car allowance provided)
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Communications technology experience
- Experience with electronics (hobby level and above)
