Linux Routers
Interconnection of networks is becoming increasingly popular to centralise applications, data storage and provide Internet services. Routers are required to provide this capability. A reasonable alternative to purchasing high end dedicated routers is to use good quality server class hardware and use the Linux operating system.
Linux provides an excellent toolkit to route traffic in many situations. Combined with the powerful Net Filter (iptables) packet filtering kernel software, a Linux router can filter and route traffic at modern LAN speeds.
We specialise in Linux routing solutions to suit many needs. A Linux router can simply provide better filtering for Internet published services or it can handle multiple trunks and protocols. A common solution we deploy for customers requiring highly available communications is a Linux router with an Ethernet based primary trunk (Microwave, Laser, Fast Ethernet, DSL) and a backup trunk provided by a Telco with good SLA's, such as ISDN.
Sites with a small PC deployment can also take advantage of a Linux router with other Linux Server software, providing an extremely cost effective small/medium office server/router.
